Sunscape and Chaberton Energy divest Maestrale and Ponente projects to Green Utility: first Italian transaction
Sunscape and Chaberton Energy complete the sale of their first two joint-venture photovoltaic projects — Maestrale (7.4 MWdc, Bologna) and Ponente (1.3 MWdc, Bari) — to Green Utility SpA, for a total of 8.7 MWdc.

Sunscape and Chaberton Energy have completed the sale of the first two photovoltaic projects developed jointly in Italy: Maestrale and Ponente, both acquired by Green Utility SpA, an Italian independent power producer controlled by InfraVia Capital Partners.
The transaction, for a combined capacity of 8.7 MWdc, is the first divestment closed by the joint venture and marks the Sunscape–Chaberton partnership's effective entry into the Italian ready-to-build market.
Maestrale: 7.4 MWdc photovoltaic in Emilia-Romagna
The Maestrale project, located in Emilia-Romagna near Bologna, has a capacity of 7.4 MWdc and was advanced to ready-to-build status in less than two years from initial site identification.
The plant uses high-performance bifacial photovoltaic modules and single-axis tracker systems designed to maximize energy yield.
Ponente: 1.3 MWdc photovoltaic in Apulia
The Ponente project, located in Apulia near Bari, has a capacity of 1.3 MWdc and adopts the same technology as Maestrale (bifacial modules and single-axis trackers).
The Maestrale–Ponente pair confirms Sunscape's strategy to develop distributed projects from north to south, in the 1–10 MW range, contributing to the decarbonization of the Italian power system.
Acquisition by Green Utility, an Italian IPP
Green Utility SpA is an Italian independent power producer active in distributed generation and energy self-consumption for commercial and industrial customers. Green Utility will be responsible for constructing and operating both plants.
The two projects opted not to participate in the FerX support scheme, prioritizing fast commissioning over the incentive waiting periods.
Environmental impact: 13.5 GWh/year, 140,000 tons CO₂ avoided
Once operational by the end of 2025, the two plants will jointly generate approximately 13.5 GWh of clean energy per year and avoid more than 140,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions over thirty years.
The Sunscape–Chaberton Energy joint venture pipeline keeps growing, with more than 100 MWdc of initiatives currently under development across Italy.
